Are you doing enough of what truly makes you happy? Probably not. I think we’re all guilty of letting work and life get in the way. Well, did you know that the month of August is Happiness Happens month! Yes, I know it all sounds a bit kooky, a bit out there. It’s a reminder that happiness happens one small moment at a time. Recognise those moments when they happen. Happiness is such a personal feeling it really does come from within.
There’s no ‘one size fits all’ with happiness. Everyone’s idea of happy is different. For some it might be music. Crank it up loud and dance like no-one is watching. It’s a great way to de-stress, it really gets those endorphins going. For others, it might be a walk along a deserted beach or a barefoot dance in the rain. Let’s face it we’ve had a lot of that lately! It’s a great feeling, raindrops on your face. It’s especially lovely in summer to just stand in it. It’s invigorating and really makes you feel alive but it’s not for everyone. For some just sitting gazing out the window at is more their idea of happy. My happy is talking a walk in the amazing countryside with my husband, my dog and my camera. We really do have the most amazing lush scenery in this country and it’s so easy to forget that, especially if you’re lucky enough to have it on your doorstep. For those of us with children, yes, they’re probably driving you a bit mad now during the holidays but one smile from them might be all it takes to find your happy.
These days go so fast so stop and savour all the little things. All those precious, happy moments. Even if it’s just for 5 minutes a day, let’s see or do one thing that truly makes us happy. Why not leave me a comment and tell me what your happiness is. Let’s make August our happy month, even if the weather isn’t quite so kind. Go on find your happy!
